Group Work in Gaming

Online videogaming in groups is priceless as a tool for Practical Work on Self, PWOS.

It of course presupposes that you are interested in such a thing and also have developed a certain ability to self observe.

Sure, you don't have to travel anywhere, get dressed for the occaison, pay a lot of money or get the group room all set up and such. You do not actually need to deal with anyone elses appearance or smells...you simply get to observe what is going on in the group as well as your, at times inexplicably intense, reaction to it.

It is ASTOUNDING what will get revealed.
Discover online how your actions and inactions influence the group.

E.J. giving a very basic instruction to a new group of bardo travellers.

Yes, that is what we train for, and making sudden moves (like running around activating monsters prematurely), WILL endanger your party, or get someone killed. Your habits will carry you through. Yes. DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR HABITS ARE? Do you know what you do under stess? Find out online. Do you freeze up, get obstinate, mechanical, leave hysterical, frantic...to name a few.

Are you able to let go of your agenda and follow the groups agenda? NOTICE what does in fact go on inside you!!!!!! while you are sitting there moving your mouse/character.

How patient are you willing to be...or able to be...???
How frustrated do you get with certain people's behaviour? If you have never formed a work group in 3D life, try to do this online. Pay attention to how it works and what you need to do. Observe the group members and their reactions, ways of doing things and dealings with each other.

Notice who you might consider to trust going into hell with...
Who would you play hardcore with?

Having been in a variety of groups in REAL life (hehe), I am amazed at what can happen online and the correspondences to real life (3D I mean)
Plenty of times I have thought to myself...this is just like in gaming...same issue, just a different setup...

Also, some behaviour that I saw in someone but thought just fine, but one that had gotten mentioned by EJ as something to work on...bang, first time I was online in a game with that person...it was glaringly obvious...oh, THAT'S what he means, now I get it...omg, how clearly visible it was online.
