Practical Work on Self
You will need: willingness and ability to self observe, necessity to change and then, some strenght and stamina to actually do what needs to be done...when the time comes.
Usually you will be triggered and in the throws of it when it really matters, so maintaining some degree of presence is not always easy (understatement)
To truely change your deepest habits you also have to be willing to feel pain. Just like the tree might feel when it gets pruned, not being allowed anymore to just grow as it "normally" would.
